Lotte to host moon-viewing event in Shinjuku with giant moon installation
Lotte will host its first experiential moon-viewing event, ‘Yukimi Daifuku Minna de Otsukimi-kai,’ at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building’s Sankaku Hiroba in Tokyo from September 25 to 27, 2026.
The event features a massive moon object as a central symbol, allowing visitors to enjoy the traditional autumn moon-viewing experience indoors regardless of weather. Lotte plans to distribute 5,000 samples of its limited-edition ‘Autumn Otsukimi Style’ Yukimi Daifuku, which features yellow mochi designed to resemble a full moon.
A pop-up version of the ‘my Yukimi Daifuku’ customization cafe, previously held in Nakameguro, will also appear for three days. Customers can create personalized treats with five exclusive flavors, including Belgian chocolate and roasted black sesame, starting from 450 yen.
Activities include an LED lantern release at night and traditional mochi-pounding sessions during the day on September 26 and 27. The comedy duo ‘Cool Pokko.’ is scheduled to appear as a special guest on the final day.
