Lottery winners claim major prizes in Canada and United Kingdom
Two significant lottery prizes were recently claimed after periods of being unclaimed. In Ontario, Canada, a $40 million Lotto Max jackpot was validated at a lottery terminal just hours before its expiration deadline. The winning ticket was originally purchased in Grey County, and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) had previously launched an awareness campaign to locate the holder. If the ticket had remained unclaimed, the funds would have been returned to players through future promotions.
In the United Kingdom, a winner has come forward to claim a £1 million Lotto prize in Tameside. The ticket, which matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball from a July 1st draw, was the subject of a renewed search by National Lottery operator Allwyn. Officials had conducted local appeals to find the holder before the prize expired in December. The identity of the winner remains undisclosed pending a validation process.
