LOTTO Hamburg posts solid 2025 financial results, channeling profits to city budget

LOTTO Hamburg GmbH reported total ticket sales of €175.5 million for 2025, a 4 % decline from the exceptional 2024 but higher than 2023. Player winnings amounted to €69.9 million, while €58.5 million was transferred to the City of Hamburg as lottery tax, concession fees and earmarked contributions for welfare, sport, heritage and disaster protection projects. After taxes, the company recorded a net profit of €0.7 million, which was distributed to its sole shareholder, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The two flagship games, LOTTO 6aus49 (42 % of turnover) and Eurojackpot (33 %), continued to dominate sales. Hamburg hosts roughly 390 sales points, with about two‑thirds of tickets still purchased in person and the remainder online. Management, led by CEOs Torsten Meinberg and Henning D. Thiele, described the year as average after a strong 2024 and expressed optimism for 2026, citing a longer jackpot phase in LOTTO 6aus49 that should boost future participation.
