Lotto NZ to transition Powerball to new 14-ball format
Lotto NZ is transitioning its Powerball game from a 10-ball format to a revamped 14-ball system. To mark the end of the current format, the final draw on Saturday, September 12, has been designated a $10 million ‘Must Be Won’ event. If no player matches the top division, the prize will cascade to the next available division.
The new 14-ball game will launch with tickets on sale starting Sunday, featuring a fresh $5 million starting jackpot and its first draw on Wednesday, September 16. Due to the technical switchover, the MyLotto platform will be offline on Saturday night, preventing players from logging in to view tickets or use the ticket-checker function.
In related news, a family from Gisborne recently won $28.25 million in a Powerball draw. The winner, a regular player who uses the number 7 for personal significance, discovered the win on Father's Day.
