Louie Watson reportedly set to switch international allegiance to Bangladesh
Midfielder Louie Watson is reportedly preparing to switch his international allegiance to Bangladesh at the senior level. The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Crawley Town, is exploring the process of obtaining a Bangladeshi passport to represent the nation of his paternal grandfather.
Watson has a diverse international background, having represented England at the under-15 level and earning five caps for the Ireland U21 side in 2021. If the move is finalized, he will become one of the few players to have represented three different countries across various age grades.
A vice president of the Bangladesh Football Federation recently claimed via social media that Watson has agreed to pursue the necessary documentation. Reports indicate the player has already received his birth certificate and is keen to complete the formalities required by FIFA to represent Bangladesh.
