Louis Bielle-Biarrey named best French international rugby player
Louis Bielle-Biarrey, the Union Bordeaux-Bègles and XV de France winger, has been named the best French international player for the second consecutive season at the Nuit du Rugby. Following a strong performance in the Six Nations, where he scored nine tries, Bielle-Biarrey stated that his ultimate goal is the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
In addition to his individual accolades, Bielle-Biarrey credited his teammates for his success, noting that his role as a winger is highly dependent on the collective work performed before he receives the ball.
At the club level, Union Bordeaux-Bègles is exploring a potential positional shift for the player. While primarily known as a winger, manager Yannick Bru indicated that the club is testing Bielle-Biarrey in the fly-half position during training. Bru noted that Bielle-Biarrey was trained as an opening player and possesses significant kicking power, suggesting the club may utilize him in this role despite having Matthieu Jalibert in the position.
