Louis Clichy’s ‘Le Corset’ wins Special Jury Prize at Cannes

Louis Clichy’s solo directorial debut, ‘Le Corset’, has received the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard selection at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Set in the Beauce region, the animated film follows 11-year-old Christophe, a boy living on a farm whose life changes when a spinal issue forces him to wear a restrictive metal corset. The narrative explores the physical and emotional transformations of adolescence, the challenges of growing up with a physical difference, and the complexities of family dynamics within an agricultural setting.

Co-written by Franck Salomé, the film depicts Christophe’s journey as he navigates social marginalization at school, his relationship with his father, and his discovery of music and new friendships, which offer him a sense of escape and personal growth.
