Louis Géli to present work on climate denial in Brest

The group ‘Les Agros de Bretagne - AgroBreizh’ is organizing a conference and discussion centered on the book by Louis Géli, a geophysicist, oceanographer, and researcher at IFREMER. Titled ‘Chronique d’un déni climatique’ (Chronicle of a Climate Denial), the event will address the history of climate denial since the 1980s and the disparagement of science, which has contributed to societal divisions through arguments lacking scientific foundation.

The meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2026, at the ENSTA campus in Brest. The program includes a conference featuring Louis Géli, a presentation on ENSTA’s perspective regarding climate in teaching and research, and a Q&A session. The event is supported by ENSTA and IFREMER, and is sponsored by Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, Ambassador for Poles and Oceans.
