German sports: Record-breaking youth and major transfers

Several developments are occurring across German professional sports. In football, 16-year-old Louis Lemke has become the youngest goalscorer in Hamburger SV history, breaking a 104-year-old record previously held by Otto Sommer. Lemke achieved this during a 3-0 DFB-Pokal victory against SC Verl.

In transfer news, SC Paderborn has secured the signing of striker Marvin Pieringer from 1. FC Heidenheim. The deal, reportedly worth approximately 3.5 million euros, marks a record transfer for Paderborn as the player returns to his former club. Meanwhile, SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has extended his contract until 2027, a move intended to facilitate a potential loan to Eintracht Frankfurt.

In handball, Füchse-Berlin star Mathias Gidsel has identified SC Magdeburg as the superior team heading into the Bundesliga season, describing them as being “a few steps ahead” of the competition following a recent Supercup loss.
