Louis Nielsen to provide free eye exams and glasses for vulnerable groups

The optical chain Louis Nielsen is organizing a special initiative to provide free eye exams and glasses to individuals in vulnerable life situations. On October 8, stores in Aalborg, Hobro, and Thisted will hold extraordinary ‘By night’ opening hours to facilitate this service.

In collaboration with organizations such as Blå Kors Danmark and various local family networks, the initiative aims to address vision issues that are often deprioritized due to financial constraints. Participants will receive eye health checks and can undergo OCT scanning, an advanced technology used to detect early signs of eye diseases. If medical issues are suspected, individuals will be referred to ophthalmologists for further investigation.

The project follows a previous implementation where 95 percent of participants were found to be in need of corrective eyewear.
