Louis Vuitton antique trunk sold on ‘Bares für Rares’

On the television program ‘Bares für Rares’, an antique Louis Vuitton trunk from the period between 1900 and 1910 was sold to dealer Markus Wildhagen. The item was presented by Mara Repplinger and her father, Ingo, who had received the piece from a great-aunt 25 years ago.

Despite the trunk being in heavily used condition and showing signs of suboptimal storage, as noted by expert Detlef Kümmel, the luxury item commanded a significant price. The Louis Vuitton brand, now part of the LVMH conglomerate, originally gained prominence through high-quality travel trunks following its founding in Paris in 1854.
