Louisiana announces Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), in partnership with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF), has announced the application period for two fall Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops.

Targeted at women ages 18 and older, the workshops aim to build confidence and knowledge in angling. Each session will train 15 participants in skills including fish identification, equipment preparation, handling, cleaning, storing, and cooking fish. The workshops are scheduled for October 24 and November 21, 2026, at the LDWF Waddill Wildlife Refuge in Baton Rouge.

Applications are open from August 17 through September 20, 2026. Participants must be first-time attendees and are required to hold a valid Louisiana fishing license.
