Louisiana Bulldogs target stronger 2026 season under coach Steve Gschwender

The Louisiana Bulldogs football program is intensifying its summer training ahead of the 2026 season. Head coach Steve Gschwender, now in his third year of his second stint, emphasized the need for players to consistently show up, work hard, and improve. He noted that the team’s sophomores have matured into juniors and that the Bulldogs aim to build on the modest two‑win improvement they posted last season after a single win in 2024.

Key offensive pieces returning include junior quarterback A.J. Gschwender, who took over midway through his freshman year, and running backs Donnell Griffith, Troy McDaniel and senior fullback Ben Settles. The offensive line features senior center Johnny Miller, who has snapped to A.J. since sixth grade, returning lineman Elan King, and younger linemen Evan Rose and Faboiola Garcia. The coaching staff also includes Steve’s father, Tony Gschwender, as an assistant.

The Bulldogs hope the combination of experienced players, improved chemistry, and a renewed work ethic will translate into a better record and deeper playoff run in the EMO Conference.
