Louisiana dove hunting season begins September 5

Dove hunting season in Louisiana is scheduled to begin on September 5. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has divided the state into two zones: the North Zone and the South Zone (areas south of LA 190).

In the North Zone, hunting periods are set for September 5-27, October 10-November 15, and December 19 through January 17, 2027. The South Zone follows a slightly different schedule, with periods from September 5-20, October 17-November 29, and December 12 through January 10, 2027.

Hunters can access planted dove fields at the Bodcau WMA in Bossier Parish and the John Franks WMA in Caddo Parish. The LDWF mandates the use of non-toxic shot, size 6 or smaller, in all WMA dove fields. Shooting hours are permitted from one-half hour before sunrise until sunset.
