Louisiana drivers face high auto insurance costs due to poor credit
A new analysis from LendingTree reveals that drivers with poor credit pay significantly higher premiums for full coverage auto insurance compared to those with good credit. Nationally, drivers with poor credit pay an average of 68.2% more, amounting to an extra $1,553 annually.
In Louisiana, the financial impact is particularly pronounced. Drivers with poor credit in the state pay $2,666.50 more per year in annual premiums than those with good credit, representing the fourth-largest dollar difference in the United States. This equates to nearly $8,000 in additional costs over a three-year period. While the percentage increase in Louisiana is the 30th-highest in the nation at 66.6%, the absolute dollar amount remains among the highest due to state-level insurance regulations and claim patterns.
