Louisiana D‑SNAP Benefits Approved for Tropical Storm Arthur

The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D‑SNAP) benefits for households in Louisiana that were impacted by Tropical Storm Arthur on June 17. The assistance, which supplements existing SNAP aid, is available to eligible residents of portions of Avoyelles, St. Landry, St. Tammany and Terrebonne parishes.

Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Bruce Greenstein said, "Recovering from a disaster doesn't end when the storm passes," and explained that eligibility will be based on household income and documented disaster‑related expenses incurred between June 17 and July 16. Residents can verify eligibility using an online map of designated census tracts and ZIP codes and may apply for benefits from July 27 to July 31, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
