Louisiana I-10 bridge truck rollover caused by severe winds

An empty 18-wheeler overturned on the Interstate 10 bridge at the Bonnet Carré Spillway on Monday afternoon due to powerful straight-line winds from a severe thunderstorm. The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. near the border of St. Charles and St. John the Baptist Parishes.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. The accident caused the westbound lanes of I-10 to close for more than three hours, resulting in significant traffic congestion that extended toward the I-310 split. Authorities reopened the highway at approximately 5:50 p.m. after the vehicle was recovered.
