Louisiana implements strict voting regulations for November 2026 election
Ahead of the November 3, 2026, election, Louisiana voters and campaign participants must adhere to specific state regulations regarding political displays and conduct near polling stations.
State law prohibits the display of political advertising inside polling locations. This includes wearing campaign apparel, such as shirts, hats, or accessories featuring a candidate’s name or slogan. Individuals wearing such items may be denied entry until the prohibited clothing is removed or changed.
Additionally, Louisiana statutes mandate a 600-foot buffer zone around polling station entrances where no political signs are permitted. Regulations also restrict loitering; once a ballot is cast, individuals are not permitted to remain inside the polling location or within the 600-foot radius. Election officials and law enforcement have the authority to direct individuals to leave the premises if they linger after voting.
