Louisiana Tech students arrested after racial slur incident
Two Louisiana Tech University students, Taylor Guerrero, 20, and Jackson Gilbert, 18, have been arrested following an investigation into a viral video involving racial slurs. The footage, which circulated widely on social media, captured the use of the N-word being shouted repeatedly through an amplification device near the campus.
Ruston Police identified the incident as originating from a gathering at the Sigma Nu fraternity's Eta Zeta Chapter house, located adjacent to a parking lot near the university's parking garage on West Mississippi Avenue. Both students were charged with disturbing the peace involving loud and abusive language. They were booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on Ruston City Court warrants and subsequently released.
Ruston Police Chief Eric Watson described the incident as an ‘egregious act’ that disrupted the community. Local law enforcement indicated they will continue to work with university officials regarding the matter.
