Louisiana woman killed by falling tree during storms

A 33-year-old woman, Cindy Perritt, died early Thursday morning in Maringouin, Louisiana, after a large tree fell on her camper. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on August 27 in Iberville Parish, according to Captain Hosea Anderson of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office.

The death followed a round of storms that caused widespread damage across the state. In addition to the fatality, storms downed trees on homes in Baton Rouge and blocked roads in Pointe Coupee Parish. The weather also caused power outages for more than 18,000 people across Louisiana, though most services have since been restored.
