Louisville field hockey defeats Michigan State 4-0

The No. 15-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Michigan State 4-0 in its home opener at Ralph Young Field. The victory moves the Cardinals to a 4-0 record, marking their best start since 2023, while the Spartans fall to 2-2.

Louisville's scoring was distributed among four players, with goals from Chloe Plumb, Lauren Masters, Tyler Everslage, and Annabel Sep. Plumb opened the scoring in the second quarter by capitalizing on a rebound. The Cardinals extended their lead in the third quarter through goals from Masters and Everslage, before Sep secured the final goal in the fourth quarter.

Louisville dominated the statistical categories, outshooting Michigan State 19-3 and maintaining an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Cardinals also controlled penalty corner opportunities with a 12-2 margin. Louisville's defense secured its second consecutive shutout, supported by goalkeepers Emily Young and Katie Hume.
