Louisville, Kentucky, attracts visitors with bourbon and sports

Louisville, Kentucky, serves as a major destination for sports enthusiasts and bourbon lovers. The city is home to the Kentucky Derby, the longest-running sporting event in the United States, which has been held annually since 1875.

Known as ‘Bourbon City,’ Louisville produces approximately one-third of the total bourbon output in the U.S. The downtown area features Whiskey Row, a district known for its numerous distilleries and tours.

The city also hosts the Muhammad Ali Centre, which opened in 2005. The center honors the life and humanitarian work of the legendary boxer and activist, featuring architecture inspired by Ali’s Olympic torch lighting and his famous ‘float like a butterfly, sting like a bee’ mantra.
