Loukis Loukaides referred to Limassol Assize Court

Former Assistant Attorney General and former judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Loukis G. Loukaides, has been referred to the Limassol Assize Court. The case is scheduled for its first hearing on September 14, 2026.

The prosecution stems from a July 2025 complaint filed by a manager of a deceased person's estate. The allegation involves €177,108.12, which the complainant claims Loukaides received from the Limassol Municipality as compensation for the expropriation of a property, but failed to transfer to the estate's management.

Loukaides has denied all wrongdoing, describing the criminal prosecution as “malicious” and alleging a “conspiracy” behind the charges. He stated that there is no criminal offense on his part. The matter dates back to 2008, when he was tasked with pursuing a claim against the Limassol Municipality regarding a house demolished for road construction without what he argued was adequate compensation.
