Lousã municipality approves funding for local social and animal welfare groups
The Câmara Municipal da Lousã approved a €1,000 grant to the ARCIL – Associação para a Recuperação de Cidadãos Inadaptados da Lousã to fund its 2026 summer camps for program participants, which aim to promote inclusion, autonomy and social participation. President Victor Carvalho said the support “recognises the remarkable work ARCIL carries out daily in our municipality and reinforces the council’s commitment to a more inclusive community.”
In a separate decision, the council allocated €2,750 to Louzanimales – Associação pelos Animais da Lousã to continue its animal protection activities, including managing cat colonies and operating the municipal official animal collection centre. Carvalho highlighted that “animal protection and welfare are fundamental municipal responsibilities, requiring responsibility, proximity and cooperation.”
