Louveira railway construction to begin in October

Construction for the Intercity Train (TIC) and Intermetropolitan Train (TIM) projects is scheduled to begin in Louveira, São Paulo, this October. The project, managed by the concessionaire TIC Trens for the State Government of São Paulo, aims to connect the Campinas region to the capital.

Initial works will focus on the central region and Vila Pasti to establish a permanent, segregated track for passenger and freight trains. This includes the modernization and expansion of the existing railway station, which will feature new mezzanines, ticket offices, turnstiles, and elevators while preserving its original structural characteristics.

To mitigate urban mobility impacts, a temporary crossing will be implemented near Rua Antônio Antognoli to maintain access during construction. While the TIM service is expected to be inaugurated by 2029, some local residents have expressed opposition to the project, citing concerns regarding historical preservation, public safety, and changes to the community's tranquility.
