Louvre Museum announces new department directors

The Musée du Louvre in Paris has announced new leadership appointments for two of its historical collection departments.

Ketty Gottardo has been named the new director of the Department of Graphic Arts. An art historian with a background from the University of Udine and the Courtauld Institute in London, Gottardo previously worked at the Louvre as a cataloger of Italian drawings. She is scheduled to officially begin her new role on October 1.

Stéphanie Deschamps-Tan has been appointed to lead the Department of Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern Sculptures. Having served as a curator for the department since 2013 and as deputy director in 2025, Deschamps-Tan has extensive experience in French sculpture and conservation projects, including the restoration of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.
