Louvre Museum to host major Francisco de Zurbarán exhibition
The Louvre has announced a major monographic exhibition dedicated to the Spanish Golden Age master Francisco de Zurbarán, scheduled for autumn 2026. Held in collaboration with the National Gallery in London and the Art Institute of Chicago, the exhibition will run from October 7 to January 25.
The showcase aims to present Zurbarán as more than just a religious painter, highlighting his skills as a colorist and his ability to render sculptural figures. The collection includes 65 canvases, ranging from his early religious works in Seville to his still lifes and mythological pieces commissioned for King Philip IV’s Buen Retiro Palace. The exhibition will also feature works from the National Sculpture Museum of Valladolid.
