Love Island Australia is facing significant backlash following the release of a promotional video for its 2026 season that heavily utilizes artificial intelligence. The controversy involves both technical execution and ethical concerns regarding consent.

Ariana Madix has publicly objected to her appearance in the AI-driven promo, stating, “They didn’t tell me AT ALL that the clip I shot would be used with AI.” Madix expressed that she was unaware her footage would be used in such a context, sparking a debate over transparency and informed consent in media production.

Viewers have also criticized the quality of the AI elements, which include digitally altered imagery such as shirtless men carrying a barbecue and swimmers labeled with Australian snack names. Some fans described the use of AI as “absolutely devastating” and “embarrassing,” suggesting it reflects a decline in production standards. The new season is scheduled to premiere on October 26, 2026, and will be filmed in the Love Island USA villa in Fiji.
