Love Island contestant Gabriel Garland removed after past stabbing involvement revealed
ITV confirmed that Gabriel Garland, a 24‑year‑old model introduced as a Casa Amor bombshell on Love Island UK, has left the villa and will not return. The broadcaster said the decision followed the emergence of a "situation in his past" that was not identified in standard background checks.
Court documents from a 2019 New Year’s Eve party in London linked Garland to the incident that led to the conviction of Vitor Mazzer for two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The records state that Garland was present at the party, that two victims had an altercation with him before being stabbed, and that he was not charged nor found to have committed an offence. His mother provided a character statement, noting he was 17 at the time.
ITV will still broadcast Garland's arrival footage, but the contestant will not appear in any further episodes. The episode aired amid viewer complaints about the show's vetting procedures and broader concerns about contestant behaviour on the programme.
