Love Island USA removes contestant after resurfaced racist video

Vasana Montgomery, a 25‑year‑old contestant from Beaverton, Oregon, was removed from the upcoming season of Love Island USA after videos emerged showing her using the N‑word. Producers said they had not seen the privately held clips when selecting her for the lineup. The incident follows similar controversies in season 7, when two islanders were also dismissed over racist language.

In response, Peacock executives are reportedly evaluating AI‑based tools to more thoroughly scan potential contestants’ social‑media histories before casting future seasons. The network said it is “embarrassed” by the oversight and is looking into technology that can dissect a candidate’s digital footprint to prevent similar slip‑ups.
