Love Island USA Under Fire Over Contestant Removal and Casting Concerns

Producers of Love Island USA are overhauling their contestant vetting process after a resurfaced video showed cast member Vasana Montgomery using a racial slur. The incident led to her removal from the villa and prompted executives to consider new tools, including AI, to scan contestants’ digital footprints more thoroughly. A source said, “There are only so many ways to vet someone given all the different technologies and social media that have been in and out over the years.”

Separately, Sean Reifel’s sister publicly criticized the show’s casting, stating the pool of women was “not catered towards people who are… in their late 20s, he’s a dad,” after her brother’s elimination. She argued the age and life‑stage mismatch made it difficult for him to form a solid connection with the contestants.
