Lovebirds debuts Spring/Summer 2027 collection at London Fashion Week
Lovebirds made its debut at London Fashion Week with the Spring/Summer 2027 collection titled “India: IYKYK.” Founded by Gursi Singh and Amrita Khanna, the collection aimed to challenge clichés regarding Indian culture and fashion by focusing on contemporary interpretations of traditional crafts.
The designers utilized hand-block-printed chintz, working with artisans to rework and re-layer classic patterns. These motifs appeared on embroidered jackets, trousers, and sheer skirts. The collection also featured handmade linen with blue-and-white checkerboard patterns and vintage school chart graphics from the 1970s and 1980s.
This presentation serves as a precursor to the “Chintz” exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, scheduled to begin next September, which will examine four centuries of the hand-drawn fabric originating from South India.
