Lovlina Borgohain protests wrong India map in Glasgow, dedicates CWG silver to flood‑hit Assam
Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain won a silver medal in the women’s 75 kg event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, losing a split‑decision bout to Australia’s Emma‑Sue Greentree. While celebrating at a Glasgow Indian restaurant, she pointed out that the map of India displayed there omitted the North‑East region and showed incorrect boundaries for Jammu and Kashmir, urging the venue to correct the design.
Borgohain also dedicated her medal to the people of Assam, who are coping with severe floods that have displaced thousands. The Assam Boxing Association praised her gesture, saying it lifted morale in the flood‑hit state. The Boxing Federation of India echoed her concerns about the map. The restaurant has not yet responded to the complaint.
