Lovlina Borgohain wins Commonwealth Games silver, calls for Assam flood aid
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain secured a silver medal in the women's 75kg event at the Commonwealth Games, losing the final to Australia's Emma‑Sue Greentree by a 4‑1 split decision. The achievement adds to her record that already includes an Olympic bronze, an Asian Games silver and multiple World Championship medals. After the bout she returned to Guwahati, where she was welcomed at the Sports Authority of India centre and praised the support of her home state.
Borgohain also used the platform to draw attention to the severe flooding in Assam, praying for victims and urging authorities and the public to help restore normalcy. She highlighted the unity shown by the people of Assam and said she intends to meet those affected as soon as possible.
