Lovlina Borgohain wins gold in women's 75kg middleweight at Asian Games

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain won the gold medal in the women's 75kg middleweight category at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. She secured the victory by defeating China's Bao Jiayi with a 5-0 score in the final.

This achievement marks the 12th gold medal for India in the current games. Borgohain, a Tokyo Olympics medalist, becomes only the second Indian female boxer to win gold at the Asian Games, following Mary Kom.

Her father, Tiken Borgohain, noted that the victory came despite significant physical challenges. To maintain her weight within the 75kg limit, she followed a strict diet that left her feeling physically weakened during her final matches.
