Croatian municipalities celebrate municipal days and demographic initiatives
Various Croatian municipalities, including Petrinja, Zmijavci, Lovreć, and Sinj, are holding ceremonial sessions and celebrations to mark their municipal days and patron saint holidays.
In Zmijavci, Minister of Demography and Migration Ivan Šipić emphasized the importance of demographic renewal for the survival of local communities. He highlighted that approximately 262,000 euros have been allocated to the municipality for 2025 and 2026 to support preschool education, playgrounds, and cultural activities. Local measures in Zmijavci include subsidies for childbirth—ranging from 500 to 4,000 euros depending on the number of children—and assistance for young families with housing and communal fees.
Petrinja celebrated its City Day and the feast of Saint Lawrence with a formal session of the City Council, reflecting on reconstruction efforts following earthquakes. In Sinj, the Minister participated in the traditional Alka festivities, noting their importance to local identity. Lovreć also marked its municipal day by inaugurating a new public and social building, showcasing recent investment growth in the Dalmatian Zagora region.
