Low blood pressure awareness follows death of singer Toluwanisings
The sudden passing of gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, in Ibadan, Oyo State, has prompted discussions regarding low blood pressure, or hypotension. While an official cause of death has not been confirmed, medical commentary and online discussions have linked his collapse to potential factors such as acute low blood pressure, cardiac arrest, or exhaustion.
Low blood pressure is generally defined as a reading lower than 90/60 mm Hg. Potential causes for hypotension include dehydration resulting from fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, as well as certain medications such as antidepressants, narcotics, or high blood pressure drugs. Other contributing factors can include heart issues, such as a slow heart rate or heart valve problems, and endocrine or hormonal imbalances.
