Lower Austria approves Großkrut-Altlichtenwarth II wind farm
The Lower Austrian state government has unanimously approved the construction and operation of the Großkrut-Altlichtenwarth II wind farm. The decision, supported by the ÖVP, FPÖ, and SPÖ, follows a successful environmental impact assessment.
The project will feature five modern Vestas V172-7.2 MW wind turbines, representing an investment of approximately 50 million euros. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to produce an annual yield of about 96,000 MWh of clean electricity, which is sufficient to supply more than 27,000 households.
The project is being implemented by EVN Naturkraft GmbH and ImWind. Officials stated that the expansion aims to increase regional energy independence and strengthen the local economy and environment.
