Lower Austria closes three additional asylum accommodations

Authorities in Lower Austria are closing three additional asylum accommodations located in St. Pölten, Bruck an der Leitha, and Schottwien. According to reports, between 20 and 30 residents are affected by these closures.

FPÖ provincial councillor Martin Antauer stated that the goal is to make Lower Austria as unattractive as possible as an asylum location, emphasizing that protecting the local population is a priority. This follows the recent closure of an accommodation in Mitterndorf, where residents were redistributed.

As part of a broader restrictive migration policy, the province is also implementing an integration code. Starting this autumn, recipients of basic care will be required to sign this code. Provincial Vice Governor Udo Landbauer indicated that violations could lead to a reduction in basic care benefits or, in repeated cases, total exclusion from basic care services.
