Lower Austria launches first Small and Field Monument Day on August 9

The Volkskultur Niederösterreich is introducing the first statewide Small and Field Monument Day, scheduled to begin on 9 August 2026. The action day aims to make small and field monuments visible, present regional initiatives and invite all residents of Lower Austria to engage with the region’s cultural heritage.

Events are planned across the Melk district, including a walk at the Maria Taferl memorial site, a picture‑tree exhibition in the Yspertal Heimatmuseum, a light‑image lecture about monuments around Schloss Artstetten, a legend‑walk in Emmersdorf, and church tours in Bischofstetten and St. Oswald. Organisers such as Erich Köberl, Johann Pichler, Hermann Schöner and Norbert Hauer are listed for the respective activities.
