Lower Austria police impound 17 defective agricultural vehicles
During a targeted technical inspection in the Lilienfeld district of Lower Austria, police and state experts identified serious defects in a majority of inspected agricultural and forestry vehicles. Out of 21 vehicles checked on September 22, 2026, 17 were found to have 52 significant technical flaws, nine of which were classified as presenting an “imminent danger.”
Six vehicles were immediately prohibited from further travel due to the severity of their defects. Notable incidents included a transport convoy carrying six dairy cows on a trailer that lacked any braking effect on its four wheels and featured a heavily damaged tire with visible, rusted steel mesh. Another convoy transporting several tons of gravel was also halted after inspectors found critical issues with the rear axle and a severely damaged tire.
