Lower Bavaria reports mixed 2021 harvest outlook

Agricultural harvest expectations for Lower Bavaria are described as average, though results vary significantly by region due to volatile weather conditions in 2021.

While some farmers report good yields, others have faced substantial losses caused by heavy rain and hail. The Passau district has been particularly hard hit, with some corn and grain fields destroyed by large hail.

District President Gerhard Stadler noted that while a cold and dry spring was followed by beneficial rain in May for crops like hops, asparagus, and rapeseed, the subsequent heat and localized heavy storms in June created a mixed outlook for the region's 225,000 hectares of grain cultivation.
