Lower Chitral police announce new women's station and drug monitoring cell

District Police Officer (DPO) of Lower Chitral, Resham Jahangir, presided over a public hearing (Khuli Kachehri) to address various social and security issues raised by local residents. During the session, citizens highlighted several pressing concerns, including drug trafficking, the misuse of social media, rising suicide rates among women, and the practice of local girls marrying outside of Chitral.

In response to these issues, DPO Jahangir announced several initiatives. To combat drug abuse, the district police are utilizing a specialized monitoring cell to track traffickers, while also considering rehabilitation programs for addicts. To address digital concerns, a National Cyber Crime Investigation (NCCI) desk will be established in the district to handle complaints regarding social media misuse.

Furthermore, the DPO announced the establishment of a dedicated women's police station in Lower Chitral to ensure faster justice, legal assistance, and protection for women. He also ordered increased police patrolling in sensitive areas, including Baroz village, and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by providing information on criminal activities.
