Lower Saxony launches one-million-euro European partnership program

The state of Lower Saxony has launched the ‘Niedersachsen verbindet Europa’ funding program, allocating one million euros for 2026 to strengthen municipal and civil society partnerships across borders. The initiative aims to foster international connections in areas such as education, youth, seniors, culture, sports, and science.

Funding is distributed among various centers, with the state capital, Hannover, receiving 15,000 euros. Other major centers are allocated 14,500 euros, while medium-sized centers receive 10,000 euros. Minister for Europe and Regional Development Melanie Walter stated that the program supports local municipalities in promoting European togetherness and specifically aims to maintain connections with the United Kingdom to mitigate the ongoing effects of Brexit.
