Lower Silesia expects satisfactory grape harvests
Grape harvests in Lower Silesia are expected to be satisfactory this year, according to representatives from the Lower Silesian Vineyards Association. Following two seasons impacted by spring frosts, the current year has benefited from a lack of spring frosts and a warm summer, which has improved fruit quality.
There are approximately 60 vineyards operating in the region, producing about 500,000 bottles of wine annually. Estimates suggest a yield of 8 to 12 tons of grapes per hectare, depending on the specific cultivation methods and varieties used. The harvest is expected to continue through the end of October.
In addition to commercial viticulture, seasonal grapes are being utilized for domestic preparations. Traditional recipes for homemade grape juice involve boiling grapes with water, sugar, and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, or vanilla to preserve the seasonal flavor for colder months.
