Lower Silesia launches shooting program for schools

The Lower Silesian Voivodeship Self-Government has launched a new program titled ‘Lower Silesia – a shooting range in every school,’ allocating 2 million PLN to enhance regional security and practical skills. The initiative focuses on popularizing sports shooting and teaching students how to handle equipment safely to foster concentration, responsibility, and discipline.

Initially targeting secondary schools, the program provides funding for modern equipment rather than the construction of traditional shooting ranges. Schools can utilize existing spaces, such as gymnasiums, by using laser and optical systems that allow for practice without live ammunition or pellets. Each school can receive up to 80,000 PLN for equipment, including sets designed for entire classes featuring short and long-range laser-based units.

Following an initial recruitment phase where local governments applied for over 600,000 PLN, unused funds remain in the budget, and a subsequent call for applications is expected soon. While the program currently focuses on secondary education, there are plans to potentially expand it to primary schools in the future.
