Lowestoft Bascule Bridge pedestrian path reopens

The west-side pedestrian path across the Bascule Bridge in Lowestoft has reopened following several months of closure. The path was previously shut due to surface damage, with National Highways citing the need for bespoke parts as a reason for the delay.

Local MP Jess Asato intervened to expedite the repairs after being informed that work was not scheduled to begin until November. The closure had caused significant disruption, leading to safety concerns as some pedestrians were forced to walk in the road to cross the bridge.
