Low‑impact exercise guidance for adults over 50

Tom’s Guide recommends three low‑impact movements—single‑leg balance, lateral leg raises and controlled squats—as a more effective way to improve stability for people aged 50 and older than a standard 30‑minute walk. The exercises target ankle, knee and hip stabilisers, strengthen hip abductors and build a solid lower‑body base without needing special equipment.

Personal trainer Mallory Fox advises adults over 60 to walk 60–80 minutes each day. She highlights walking as a simple, low‑impact activity that protects joints, can be easily intensified, and supports autonomy, mobility and overall quality of life for seniors.
