Lozani village homes saved from eight-kilometer wildfire

A large-scale wildfire spanning approximately eight kilometers approached the village of Lozani in the Mogila Municipality near Bitola. The flames reached the outskirts of the settlement, posing an immediate threat to residential homes.

Firefighting teams from Bitola, working alongside local residents and volunteers, successfully prevented the fire from destroying or damaging houses. Stojanche Angelov, Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, stated that the intervention of firefighters and villagers prevented a catastrophe.

While the immediate threat to homes has been contained, the situation remains critical. Emergency crews remain on the scene to extinguish remaining hotspots and prevent reignition. The fire in Lozani is part of a broader period of severe wildfire activity across the country, with active hotspots reported in regions including Prilep, Novaci, Kichevo, Zelenikovo, Stip, and various municipalities in the Tetovo region.
