AFA to implement paid subscriptions for LPF Play streaming

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has announced that its streaming platform, LPF Play, will transition from a free service to a paid subscription model starting October 15. The new monthly subscription will cost 15,000 Argentine pesos.

The platform will offer two tiers of access. A free plan will remain available but will be restricted to certain content, including matches from Federal A, Promocional Amateur, and Women's Futsal. The paid 'Plan Plus' will provide full access to live broadcasts of the Primera Nacional, Primera B, Primera C, and the Women's Championship, as well as match replays and press conferences.

The decision has drawn significant criticism from fans, particularly those following teams in the decisive stages of promotion or relegation battles. Users have also expressed frustration regarding previous technical issues with the platform, such as stream interruptions and errors in player identification. While the AFA suggests the move will eventually benefit clubs through new revenue streams, the transition marks a major shift for supporters who previously accessed these lower-division matches without cost.
